Filling your cup with Christian self-care routines and ideas can help you focus on the most important aspects of life to help you find a full life! If you do a search for self-care ideas, you will find hundreds of posts with numerous lists of things you can do for your self-care routine.
Self-care is simply filling your cup or taking care of your needs so that you are better able to fulfill the needs of the others around you.
You may think of things like painting your nails, getting your hair cut, or having a massage. But they do not address the reason you need a self-care routine! These superficial things don’t always fill your cup and make you feel like you have energy and patience for those around you.
Your life is busy and this year has been stressful. You need more than a list of things you can do, you need some ways to fill your cup on a regular basis that are easy to implement and continue!

What does God Say About Self-Care?
When your heart and mind are full of too many things and you feel overwhelmed, that is that prime opportunity for you to speak harshly, make poor choices, or neglect your health. This environment can easily spiral into a spiritually vulnerable time in your life.
Difficult times in life when you are dealing with stress, frustration, and fatigue, make you a prime target for Satan to creep into your life and sow seeds of doubt, anger, and discouragement.
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Luke 6:45 (NIV)
Building a lifestyle that incorporates Christian self-care routines that are daily filling your cup and helping you focus on God’s goodness to you, your value and worth as a child of God, and being a blessing to those you come in contact with.
You are created in God’s image! He knows what is best for you and He has the perfect plan to help you achieve a full and happy life. Taking care of yourself will help you reflect Him to those you are around.
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 2
When your life is in balance, your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health will benefit greatly. This is God’s design for your life.
8 Simple Ways to Fill Your Cup as a Christian Woman
There are many short-term things you can do to take care of yourself. But self-care acts often fall short of helping you maintain a self-care life. If you want to be able to “pour” into other people’s lives like your family, your kids, your friends, and coworkers, you need to have your own cup filled with positivity, peace, strength, and courage.
Implementing these 8 simple principles for a healthy life will help to reduce your anxiety and stress while filling your cup with good things in life.
- Nutrition – eating a balanced diet with lots of fresh fruits, veggies, and whole grains, provides the best possible foundation for feeling energetic and healthy.
- Exercise
- Water
- Sunshine
- Temperance (Balance)
- Air
- Rest
- Trust in God
When you focus on the way God created you – these 8 principles will help your health in your body and mind. God created your body to need certain things each day. When you prioritize healthy choices, your body runs smoothly, you rest well, your mind is happy and your heart is focused on God.
Making these daily choices can have a profound effect on your ability to be a happy mom, wife, sister, and friend.
Following these 8 principles of a healthy lifestyle won’t prevent you from having difficulties or frustrations, but you will be better equipped and able to handle those situations.
Prayer for Self-Care
As you look at these simple ways you can reduce the stress and overwhelm in your life right now, ask God to help you make one step toward a healthier Christian life.
Dear Father in Heaven. Thank you so much for creating me in your image. Sometimes I don’t reflect You well because I’m tired, overwhelmed, and short-tempered. Please help me focus on You more as I strive to be as healthy as possible. Help me to know when to say “no” and what things in my life I should eliminate or reduce. Help me as I work on making healthier choices. Thank you for the beauty in nature and for giving me permission to take a day of rest each week to spend time with You. Thank you for giving me the strength for today! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Self care is never really something I thought about until I had kids. Just in the last year I have really worked to simplify and create time and space in my schedule. I spent several months waking up early and reading my Bible and it was amazing. Thank you for this I need to get back into the habit.
It’s so true! Unless we are intentional, life can get away from us. Good for you for keeping your priorities at the forefront!

It’s always easier to look after everything else than yourself isn’t it. My boys got me a lovely water bottle for work after a few too many days of not drinking enough water and suffering for it. It made a big difference.
What a great gift! Now you can enjoy drinking your water and think of your boys at the same time. 😉
