Prayer for Children in School
As a parent, there is no guarantee that your children will make good choices down the road. As they grow and have more influences in their life, they have choices to make that may or may not be what you’ve hoped and prayed for. As your children are growing, they will have lots of new experiences, new friends, and new people who are encouraging them and teaching them to do different things.
This is where your prayer for your children in school is so critical. As your children grow, there is a transition from being the only influence in their life to sharing that influence with others.
There are several things you should include in your prayer for children in school. As you pray specifically for your kids, watch to see how God is working in their lives. Sometimes there are big things that you will notice – big answers to prayer, and sometimes there may be small indicators that God is working and your child is receptive to Him.
Examples of Prayer for Children in School
The following prayers can be used as examples. Praying and talking to God is like talking to a friend. He wants you to share your heart, your feelings, your worries, and your concerns about your kids as well. When you pray, don’t worry about saying the right things in the right order or memorizing the perfect template for prayer.
Just open your heart and share with God the things you need help with. The blessings you’ve seen, and the continued requests to take care of your children.

Prayer for Integrity & Honesty
Dear Father in Heaven. Thank you so much for these children of my mine. You have blessed me with abundance in the love and joy they bring and I’m so grateful for them. Please guide and lead them as they learn and grow at school. Help them to have integrity and be honest all the time as they are working on their assignments, studying for tests, and learning. Help them to be honest in their answers, in their work, and in their relationships.
Help them to grow with integrity to know right from wrong and stay away from influences that will lead them down the wrong path. Please help me as I guide, listen, instruct, and support to have the wisdom to encourage their growth. Thank you for placing people in their lives who are a good example, holding them accountable, and encouraging them to stand for what is right. Thank you for surrounding them with your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Good Friendships
Dear Jesus. Today I lift up my children to you and ask that you will be with them especially today as they are making friends, building relationships, learning new things, and watching the things that others are doing. You have given them a great capacity to be kind to others and encourage others to do what is right. Today I pray that you will help them in their relationships and friendships and that they will honor You. Help them to build friendships with kids who will support their right choices, encourage kindness and integrity, and most of all, point them to You.
Thank you for the examples in the Bible of good friends like David and Jonathan, who can be people we talk about to encourage their choices. Please give me the wisdom for when to say something and when to be quiet when it comes to my child’s friendships. Help me to be able to be a support and encouragement to their friends just as I pray that their friend’s parents will be a support and encouragement to my children. Thank you so much for your blessings. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer That They Will Get Caught When They do Wrong
Dear Lord, I want to think that my child will never do something wrong, but I know that they will make mistakes and make choices that may lead them down the wrong path. I pray today that You would put a hedge of protection around them and keep them from temptations that they can’t manage. I also pray that if they do something wrong that they will get caught so that they can learn a lesson through the experience that will help them make better choices.
If their friends are doing wrong, I pray that they will be strong enough to seek what is right and to stand up to their friends even if it’s uncomfortable. Please help them to remember the things they were taught when they were young and their heart for You. Thank You for providing wisdom when we ask! Thank You so much for your protection and Your everlasting love! In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer That They Will Grow Like Jesus
Dear Father in Heaven. I know that You love this child of mine infinitely more than I can imagine. You gave Your only Son to redeem us and I praise You for that. I pray today that my child will grow “in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52), just like Jesus did. Help them to be hungry for more of You, to have a tender heart, and to desire to be like You. Help them to be a blessing to those they come in contact with and to be a witness and an example to those they meet.
As they grow, help them to come in contact with people who will support them, encourage them, and nudge them to make the right choices. Please give me the wisdom to know when to push, when to stand back, and when to ask more questions so that I can be a support for them. Help me to be a consistent witness in my life as an example for my child. Thank You for Your love, forgiveness, and unending patience with us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Godly Mentors
Dear Jesus. Sometimes I selfishly want to be the only one who is important in my child’s life, but I know that there are and will be many times when they will listen better from someone else. I pray today that You will surround them with people who care about them, support them, and encourage them through their own Christ-like witness. I pray for an army of people who love You to surround and encourage my child as they are growing, maturing, making decisions, and learning.
Please build a hedge of protection around my child to keep any negative influences at bay, and protect them from friends and mentors who may hurt them, entice them away from You, or encourage them to make harmful or hurtful choices that will lead them away from You.
I pray for the significant people in my child’s life. Their teachers pour so much time and energy into my child’s life and I pray that you will help them to have a full measure of Your Presence in their life every day. Please be with their youth group leaders, church leaders, and the pastors who also have influence over my child. I also pray for wisdom for the parents of my child’s friends. Please help us each to bring different positive aspects of You and Your unfailing love to light for my child. Thank You so much for Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
When you pray for your children, you are standing in the gap between them and God and praying on their behalf. You’re prayers don’t have an expiration date. Your prayers for your children in school, enable God to work on their behalf.
